Gumnut Children's Centre

Management

Gumnut Children’s Centre is owned and operated by the Sydney Anglican Schools Corporation and is located in the grounds of the Shoalhaven Anglican School, Croobyar Road , Milton.

Gumnut is licensed and operated under the regulations and supervision of the Department of Community Services. The centre is accredited with the National Childcare Accreditation Council.

Opened for 49 weeks a year, the centre operates Monday to Friday from 8.00am to 6.00pm. Parents are eligible to apply for Childcare Benefit through Centrelink.

Care and Education

Gumnut’s philosophy is based on and reflects Christian beliefs and values by welcoming and embracing all individuals and families, inclusive of their structure, additional needs, ethnic, religious and cultural makeup.

The centre’s curriculum is emergent in that it evolves from the interests of the children and reflects the understanding that a child’s learning happens most effectively when it is motivated from within. Staff acknowledge and support the children’s individual learning style and will follow and build upon their interests.

Supportive of the N.S.W. Curriculum Framework the centre recognises that children need time to engage, time to adjust and time to enjoy success.
