Management

GumNut Pre-kinder is located in the grounds of Shoalhaven Anglican School, Croobyar Road, Milton. GumNut operates under the National Quality Standards, the newly implemented national compliance and assessment system.

Offering an educational program for 3 to 5 year olds Gumnut Pre-kinder has the added advantage of operating for 49 weeks per year with extended hours from 8am to 6pm.

Curriculum

GumNut Pre-kinder embraces elements of the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) combined with aspects of the Reggio Emilia philosophy. The Framework forms the foundation for ensuring that children experience quality teaching and learning. It has a specific emphasis on play-based learning and recognises the importance of communication and language (including early literacy and numeracy) and social and emotional development.

A Transition to School program operates throughout the year with children regularly visiting Shoalhaven Anglican School to participate in a variety of experiences. Towards the end of the year those children who will be enrolling at SAS attend four sessions in the Kindergarten classroom with their teachers for the following year.

The extensive natural outdoor environment at GumNut plays a significant part in the children’s learning as they participate in planned and spontaneous experiences amongst the many shady trees and gardens.

Staffing

GumNut Pre-kinder benefits from educators who are qualified and have extensive experience in the Early Education field, including a four year trained teacher and educators who hold either a Diploma or a Certificate III in Children’s Services.

Fees

Families attending GumNut Pre-kinder are eligible to apply to Centrelink for Child Care Benefit and Child Care Rebate. The benefits can be claimed by the family and paid directly to the centre to reduce out of pocket expenses.

GumNut Pre-kinder management set and review fees and charges annually. Every effort is made to keep fees to a minimum. An Application Fee of $60 is required on confirmation of enrolment. This fee will be transferred to SAS if a child continues their education at the school.
