Learning Support

Shoalhaven Anglican School is committed to meeting the individual needs of all students. The purpose of Learning Support is to ensure that students that have Learning Difficulties and/or a disabilities have their special needs meet. Learning Support within the school is coordinated by the Support Team which includes

  • Directors of the Senior, Middle and Junior School
  • Learning Support and Enrichment Mentor
  • School Counsellor
  • Support Staff

A number of programs run within the school to assist students with special learning needs in literacy and numeracy.

  • In-class support with the class/subject teacher and the Support Staff Team-Teaching
  • Co-operative Learning and Differentiated Learning in classrooms
  • MARS & CRUNCH are reading programs that run before school and at lunch time for students from Year 1 - Year 10. Senior Students volunteer and are trained as Reading Mentors
  • Withdrawal of groups of individuals
  • Special Provisions for the School Certificate and Higher School Certificate Examinations and Exam Assistance
  • Co-ordination of Standardised Testing and other Whole School Assessments in basic Literacy and Numeracy
  • Coordination of Whole School Tracking of Students Progress
  • Assessment of new students
  • Training Parents who assist in the classroom
  • Coordinate Individual Plans for students with disabilities
